How many times have we uttered those two words? I can only speak for me, but "Hey Mom?" flows freely out of my mouth countless times a week. She is my my sounding board, inspiration, respected critic and friend. Truly my friend in the best senses of the word. She has seen me through heartache, steadied me to stand on my own through wars and effortlessly allows me to believe in the good of this world. This is my momma in a very concise nutshell. And I thank my lucky stars every single day that she is my mom.
I don't hold much stock in the commercial value of this holiday (says the owner of a retail shop) but I do put enormous emphasis on the fact that mothers should not only be celebrated, but honored for the selflessness it takes to be a mother.
However you choose to celebrate your mom next Sunday, just remember that she is celebrating you just slightly more. That's just what we do.
